Quotes and pricing
Yes. We come out, look at the job and give you a fixed written price. There's no charge for the visit and no pressure to book. If you'd rather, send photos on WhatsApp and we'll quote from those where we can.
Every job is different, so we don't publish a price list. The main factors are the size of the tree or hedge, how close it is to buildings and wires, how easy the access is for our kit, and whether you want the stump removed. We'll always give you a fixed price before we start.
Not for quotes. For 24/7 emergency call outs we'll tell you the cost on the phone before we set off, so there are no surprises.
We'll agree payment terms with you when we quote, and you'll get a written invoice when the work is done. Ask us about payment options when we visit.
The work
Not usually. We need access to the tree and somewhere to park the Land Rover and chipper. Many customers leave a side gate open and we send photos when we're done.
We take care not to. We put boards down for the grinder, cover beds where branches will be lowered and keep the chipper on the drive or road where we can. If something does get marked, we'll tell you and put it right.
A hedge or a small tree is usually a few hours. A large felling or a big reduction is a full day for a team of two or three. Site clearances can run to several days. We'll tell you at the quote stage.
If you're not happy with anything when we've finished, tell us on the day and we'll put it right. We'd rather fix it there and then than have you live with it.
Permissions and legal
If the tree has a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or you live in a conservation area, yes. Otherwise, usually no. We check both for every job, and we'll tell you at the quote stage if anything applies.
Your local council keeps a register – some have online maps, others need a phone call or email. Locally that means Stratford-on-Avon District Council, Wychavon District Council, Redditch Borough Council or Bromsgrove District Council. We check as part of the quote so you don't have to.
Yes. We write the application in the terms the council expects, submit it and deal with any questions. TPO applications take up to 8 weeks; conservation area notices take 6 weeks.
You can cut back to the boundary line, as long as the tree isn't protected. The cuttings belong to your neighbour, so offer them back. We'd always suggest a conversation first – and we're happy to quote for both sides.
Waste and tidy-up
Brash is chipped on site. Timber is cut into logs. You can keep the chip for mulch and the logs for your wood burner, or we take everything away and recycle it. Your choice, at no extra charge for either.
Always. We rake, sweep and blow down before we leave. It's the part people notice most, so we take it seriously.
Emergencies
A tree or large branch that has fallen or looks about to fall, especially near people, buildings, roads or vehicles. If in doubt, call us – we'd rather talk you through it than have you take a risk.
Keep everyone – including pets – well away from the tree. Don't try to cut or move it yourself; trunks under tension can spring. If it's touching a power line, call 105 first. Take photos for your insurer if it's safe to do so.
Insurance and safety
Yes. We carry public liability insurance and can send you the certificate before we start. Never let anyone work on your trees without seeing theirs.
Our climbers hold NPTC / City & Guilds certificates for chainsaw use, felling, climbing and aerial rescue, and our kit is LOLER-inspected. See our safety policy for the full list.
Yes. We produce one for every job and can send it in advance for commercial sites, schools and managing agents. Ask us when you book.
